Transfer Student Experience

Peer Mentor Program

The TSE Mentor program is a peer mentorship program that connects incoming transfer students with previous transferred students. The mentors are all transfer students who have made a successful transition to the University of Georgia and are dedicated to enhancing the transfer student experience. Each TSE Mentor is assigned a small group of mentees. The small group structure allows new transfer students to connect and build relationships with other new transfer students.

Our Goals

Goal One: Assist transfer students in connecting to the campus community and developing a sense of belonging by providing a supportive group of peers who have made the successful transition of being a transfer student

Goal Two: Assist transfer students in discovering opportunities to become involved and engaged at UGA

Goal Three: Assist transfer student participants with growing their knowledge of academic and social resources

Transfer Peer Mentors can help you to:

  • Meet new people
  • Get you connected to campus activities, clubs, and organizations
  • Show you how to use the technologies you need to be successful (Campuslabs, etc.)
  • Help you to navigate the UGA campus
  • Learn strategies for being successful in your classes (ex. How to interact with your professors, organize study groups, etc.)
  • Learn about and use academic and personal support resources at the university

With a wide variety of background experience our TSE Mentors are readily available to help answer your questions, give you advice, help point you in the right direction if you need to reach a campus resource, or are just there for someone to talk to!
